Marty Hurley Memorial Scholarship

Marty Hurley's involvement with the Regiment began in 1976, when he became the percussion arranger and caption head. Except for a few years off, he held that position through 1992. From 2006 through 2011, Marty had been a special guest clinician at Regiment's annual drum camps.

Marty's influence reached much further than just the Regiment. Marty had a huge influence on percussion in the drum & bugle corps activity. He also made a huge impact on all of the students whom he taught here at the Regiment as well as his high school students. Marty was the band director at Brother Martin High School for 36 years. He was inducted into the Louisiana Music Educators Association's hall of fame on November 20, 2010.

Marty passed away in his home on Monday September 12, 2011 after complications from a stroke.

This scholarship fund was created in honor of Marty Hurley who meant so much to the Phantom Regiment. This scholarship will be awarded to a current marching member in the Phantom Regiment percussion section.
