Monday, July 19 (Letters from Lea - 2010)
We are here in Kansas City, MO and just finished up our show tonight - we scored an 86.7. It's been an abnormal day. The bus ride last night was nine and a half hours and we arrived right before nine this morning. The staff was nice enough to give us a little floor time so we woke up at eleven and had one LONG rehearsal block today. It was pretty hot and humid this afternoon too. The grass field we were on was nice and flat and made our hour of visual pretty nice - we worked with the guard on "The Awakening" so they could line up some of their drill. Our music staff switched out and we had Mason, Mike Martin, Jeremy Fig and Matt here working with us on our intonation and initiation. The relaxation we practiced definitely helped us during ensemble. Ensemble was on the stadium field and we had a nice audience there cheering us on. There was a lot of traffic on the way to the show and the logistics here were set up pretty badly so our warm up was shortened. Funny thing is, the show was delayed a little for a corps that was late, so we only had an hour before we left the show site. My family was here and it was great to see them, so that made it a great night.
Brunch: waffles, scrambled eggs, cereal Supper: Barbecued pork, beans, coleslaw, and potato salad, pudding catered in by Eric Taylor's family - thank you so much!!! Snack: waffles, fruit, pudding, barbeque, PB&J
Showers: Box 5 - nice and clean, good pressure and temperature Shout out: 1) Want to wish Tate Herrmann (one of my trumpet gals) a happy home show. Thanks for being wonderful! 2) Just want to thank the person who delivered Febreeze with my name on it for Bus 2! I appreciate you soooooo much because our bus smelled amazing today for the first time in awhile! :)
Until Tomorrow,
~Lea~
