Sunday, July 11 (Letters from Lea - 2010)

Today was a horrible day that I hope I can permanently block out of my mind. The schedule was changed at the last minute...instead of having music this morning we went straight into visual, aka Jack with Jay. He added in horn moves, which made it even more interesting! We spent the remainder of the rehearsal switching the visual in the discovery. We now face backfield for three more sets and there is slightly different body movement.

This afternoon we had a second visual block and kept refining the new movement. There was a lot of confusion in the directions so the staff got upset with us and we ended up running about a mile...next we went into music rehearsal. The trumpets had to play our feature individually in front of the hornline. If we blipped a note we had to run two laps. Half of us ended up running. Tomorrow we will do it again and have to run three if we mess it up. Ugh. It's kind of stressful to be put on the spot in front of such talented musicians. Not fun. Next, we tracked the hard parts of the show and played them at louder dynamic levels than normal. Over training. In pouring rain. Also not fun. Then we had ensemble. It was surprisingly fast and not as completely unbearable as the rest of the day.

Oh, it was also laundry day. The wonderfulness of clean clothes and three hours of free time was grossly overshadowed by the earlier half of the day. Our bus was 45 minutes late so we didn't have much time. Some of the guys went to Buffalo Wild Wings (next door) but I had a lot of laundry. Patrick and I went to grab a quick bite - his first washer didn't work so he was tight on time too. We could not decide whether we wanted subs or pizza. We blame our indecisiveness on the fact that we are told what to do all the time! How'd we decide? We flipped a coin! That meant pizza won. We sat and chatted for a while - he is a great guy and I enjoyed talking with him outside of rehearsal. Plus he sits across from me on the bus so I guess we talk a lot. Guess what else? Our bus radiator was messed up so we changed buses at laundry. That makes this the third bus for the hornline this summer. Yikes! Our bus is purple again instead of white. Well, we're going back to Mt. Orab, OH, now so I am going to sign off and we'll talk to you soon!

Breakfast: Blueberry muffins, cereal
Lunch: chicken nuggets, potato salad, macaroni salad, and pineapple, fudge nut bars
Supper/snack: On our own

~Lea~
