Tuesday, July 12 (Drew's Diary - 2005)

Well to be honest with you, I can really only describe today in one word: rough. We woke up
to find out that today was going to be a hot one, and it definitely was.

We started the morning off with stretch and then spent some time in basics with Dwight. I think he wants us to toughen up a little bit, because he really beat the tar out of us during it. The excercise wasn't too difficult, but at the speed we took it at, it was definitely a major workout for the legs. Not to mention the fact that we probably did close to 150 push-ups in that 20 minutes. Great start to the day.

Then during our next block, we had ensemble during the hottest part of the day, getting up above 100 degrees. That was definitely a very hard runthrough; by that point of the day, it starts to get a little bit scary because it's been so hot, and you've been working so hard that you start to loose all energy in your legs, and it just feels like you could collapse at any second. But somehow, we always manage to pull through, and the staff told us that the run was fanstastic, so at least some good came out of it.

As for the show tonight, it was kind of a downer to see a bank sign on the way to the stadium reading 110 degrees. Definitely a de-hype for getting into uniform. When we got to warm-up, I think it went back down to 95 or so, and they were actually nice to us and let us warm up in the shade. For some reason, during the walk to the site, I got one of the worst stomach cramps of my life, and it would not go away even up to the gate. The show went pretty well considering the circumstances, and the crowd was the loudest yet.

EVERYDAY ITEMS

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Another Paul Rennick classic - "Hey Chavez, it's the parril-parril di-dat"

REHEARSAL MOMENT OF THE DAY: I guess it would have to be the runthrough, cause you know it was a tough one when pretty much the entire drum corps is keeled over and sweating like crazy.

FOOD FOR THE DAY: B-fast- French toast, cereal; Lunch - meatball sandwiches; Dinner - chicken fajitas

SHOWER RATING: Same as yesterday, BOX 4

SHOW SCORE: 84.6-ish

So there you go, I gotta go pass out now. Peace out.
