Friday, July 15 (Drew's Diary - 2005)
Today, it was back to work. We had our time off yesterday, and it definitely helped to give us some fresh legs and chops for today. We weren't able to have much time to rehearse today, only about 5 hours total, but we made the best of it, and got quite a bit done.
The morning block started after stretch, and then we had a half an hour of basics in the drill which also helped to try to get a couple of people into some drill spots. After that, we had sectionals with Kevin, Chief and Mason. We worked mostly on the first movement, making sure that we still have everything going well with it, but also to fix a couple of problems.
While we were doing that, the color guard was busy getting all of their costumes together, and they finally have every piece that they need. Also, they worked on jazzing up the flags with the sewing crew.
After lunch, we had a two and a half hour ensemble block to make sure specifically that the color guard was able to make all of their costume changes go smoothly. So we chunked through the entire show, and did our runthrough. You could definitely tell that we are in the high altitudes, cause the air was a lot thinner today. Made rehearsal a little bit tougher, but we got through it fine.
After rehearsal, we finally got our mail drop, and there were boxes and letters everywhere.
As for the show tonight, apparently it was a lot hotter outside than we had thought. A bank sign right behind the stadium said that at the time we stepped onto the field, it was 105 degrees. Add that to a kind of small crowd that didn't really seem to dig us that much kind of made this show not too sweet. I still think we had a very strong show, and so did everyone else. So that's cool.
