Thanks for your interest in Phantom Regiment! By visiting this page, you have taken the first step to being a member of one of the most renowned drum & bugle corps in the world!

There are two different approaches:

  1. Purchase the Audition Information Packet only
This option is for those that are interested in only our Audition Information Packet. Once payment is received, you will be sent the audition informational packet that details the entire audition process for your section, as well as general membership information. This is only a request for the Audition Information Packet, and does NOT register you for auditions. If you choose to audition, you will still need to pay the full registration fee.
  2. Purchase the Audition Information Packet AND Registration
This option is for those that would like to audition. This registration fee also includes the Audition Information Packet.

What To Expect

Convenience Auditions (Brass and Percussion only)

These are NOT full audition camps like the audition camps that take place in the Rockford area. Instead, you will have a private audition and consultation with a member of the Phantom Regiment instructional staff. Within 2-3 days after your individual audition, you will be notified as to whether (or not) you're invited to the December call-back camp, as well as receive a copy of your audition worksheets with feedback from your instructors. This is a great tool for you whether or not you are offered an invitation to the call-back camp. You can use the feedback to improve your marching and playing abilities for the next camp or other auditions. Only those who are able to come to the December 14-16 camp should register for a Convenience Audition.

Color Guard - your attendance at our audition camp is a major deciding factor in the audition process. However, if an acceptable conflict should prohibit you from attending, or if you are traveling from another country, you may be able to present a video audition for consideration. Please know that to audition in person is always preferable. You will need to contact KC Perkins at: guard@regiment.org for more information.

These Convenience Auditions are just an opportunity to audition. Therefore, there is no transportation or meals provided. You arrive; check-in; warm-up; and audition at your pre-scheduled time. It's as simple as that. After you register online, one of our staff members will contact you to arrange an exact audition time.

This is NOT a Phantom Regiment audition experience camp. If you choose a Convenience Day audition, please understand that a final membership decision will NOT be made on that day as there is not enough time to do a complete evaluation of your skills. This is simply an opportunity for you to audition in front of a Regiment staff member to see if you are invited to the call-back camp in December.

The Audition Registration fee is the same as the full audition camp weekends.

What To Bring

  • Your own transportation to the school
  • Athletic type shoes for marching
  • Shorts and/or sweatpants for marching (no jeans)
  • Mouthpiece or drumsticks
  • Brass players MUST bring their instrument

Full Audition Camps (All Sections)

These audition camps are not just a walk-thru audition. You will experience what it's like to be a part of the Phantom Regiment during the entire weekend. These are overnight camps (two nights exactly) in which housing (gym floor at local high school) will be provided. We will also provide breakfast and snack - lunch and dinner will be on your own at local fast food restaurants which we will transport you to, or you can car pool. We will also provide you with a free Phantom Regiment audition shirt!

You will be seen, heard, and receive instruction from some of the best instructors in the country. You will meet and work with other potential members from all over the world. The audition camps are the preferred method plus they give you the best chance to be evaluated fairly over the course of the weekend.

You will also receive a copy of your audition worksheets with feedback from your instructors. This is a great tool for you whether or not you are offered a spot in the Regiment. You can use this information to improve your marching and playing abilities for future or other auditions. At the end of the weekend, we will notify you of your status.

What To Bring

  • Sleeping Gear (don't forget your pillow)
  • Shower Gear (don't forget your towel)
  • Athletic shoes for marching
  • Shorts and/or sweatpants for marching (no jeans)
  • Mouthpiece or drumsticks or guard equipment (bring what you can)
  • Brass players and percussionists should bring their instruments if possible

Audition Photo Required (For either convenience audition or audition camp. Not required for Audition Information Packet only).
You can attach your audition photo when you register, OR you can email it later. This photo is used on your audition worksheets and is an important part of the audition process. Your audition packet will NOT be sent until your payment AND photo has been received (this only applies to those paying the audition registration fee, not the packet only). Please follow the guidelines below when taking and sending your photo:

  • Frame subject with full face, front view & eyes open
  • Center head within frame
  • Photograph subject against a plain white or off-white background
  • Position subject and lighting so that there are no distracting shadows on the face or background
  • Use the same spelling for your name that you use when you fill out the registration form and save photo filename as:
    LastnameFirstname.jpg
  • If you don't attach it to your registration form, then email it to: photo@regiment.org
  • Examples:
    SmithSamantha.jpg JonesBrian.jpg
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your audition info packet will NOT be sent until we receive your audition registration payment & photo. (Does not apply to those just ordering the Audition Information Packet only)
