Personal Drum Corps History
"Spartacus" will be my third summer with the Phantom Regiment. I came to Regiment after graduating from high school, in 2006, and will stay until I age out in 2009. I love the tradition, class, and unique character of this corps, and cannot wait to get back on the field. In the "off season" I am a member of the Pride of Cincinnati winter guard. 2008 will be my second year with POC.

Scholastic Achievements
I am a second year student at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. I am a member of the Stamps Scholars Society and the Nursing Honors Program. After I graduate in 2010, I plan to move somewhere with good weather and work as an obstetric or perinatal nurse. After a few years of experience, I hope to attend graduate school and become an advanced practice nurse.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
As a third-year veteran in the color guard, I look forward to setting an example of how a "phantomette" should rehearse and perform. I am excited to work with another talented group of performers to create an unforgettable Phantom Regiment show. Above all, I hope that we can entertain audiences, inspire future performers, and make past Regiment members proud.

Personal Drum Corps History
Other than this year's camps with Phantom Regiment, I have no Drum Corps experience. However, I have been keeping up with Drum Corps since I was in middle school, and Phantom Regiment's show in 2003, "Harmonic Journeys," absolutely blew me away, and I knew that I had to do drum corps, namely the Phantom Regiment.

Scholastic Achievements
At Manzano High School, I was awarded the John Philip Sousa band award and the Louis Armstrong jazz award, our music department's two main music awards. I am the second student in the history of the school's music program to win both. I have been awarded the Academic Letter three times, the maximum amount eligible to win, and I graduated in 2007 with a 3.8 GPA. I am currently attending the University of New Mexico as a Music Education major under the Lottery Scholarship and under the Music Education scholarship, which together covers the cost of my tuition and my books. I am also a member of UNM's Tuba/Euphonium studio, and I am the Treasurer for the Harvey Philips chapter of the International Tuba/Euphonium Association. I finished my first semester with a 3.6 GPA and foresee the same, if not better, in the future.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
My goals with the Phantom Regiment are to improve myself as a musician, improve myself as a person, enrich my life with an unforgettable experience, and meet and befriend countless new people. Also, as a Music Educator, receiving instruction from some of the best educators in the country, namely Phantom Regiment's techs and caption heads, will improve me as an educator by exposing me to teaching methods and allowing me to observe and learn how to teach music first hand.

Scholastic Achievements
I am student at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. My major is Music Education, and I am a member of the UNT Honors College. I am invloved with many ensembles wihin the percussion studio at UNT, including the classical percussion ensemble, the concert band, the pop ensemble, and the green brigade marching band. I plan to attend graduate school for a degree in percussion performance upon my graduation from UNT.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
I am extremely excited to be a member of one of the greatest drum and bugle corps of all time. My goal is to do my part within the ensemble to continue the tradition of excellence within the Phantom Regiment. I also plan to embrace the traditions and history associated with the drum corps. The lessons that I learn from the performing with the Phantom Regiment will be passed on to my future students, and it is my hope that I will be able to instill the passion that I have for music within my future students.

Personal Drum Corps History
In 2005 I marched with The Magic Drum and Bugle Corps but I knew that one day I would be on the field wearing white. 2007 was my first year with Phantom Regiment and it was an unforgettable experience. This year, The summer of "Spartacus", is going to be amazing! I cant wait to perform this show on the field.

Scholastic Achievements
In high school I participated in the marching band all four years. I was the Trumpet secion leader my junior year and senior year. I was also the soloist my senior year. I graduated in 2006 and moved out of the state to go to Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. You may know us as the "Team who beat Michigan". I am majoring in Criminal Justice and plan to work with the Juvenile Justice System after I graduate. I feel like I can make a difference in troubled kids lives. I have been involved with the marching band here for two years. My freshman year I was awarded "Most Outstanding Freshman" in the marching band. Last year I was on the Deans List and that was a huge accomplishment for me. This year I plan to continue with my academic achievement and stay on the Deans List and hopefully move up to the Chancellors List.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
This summer with Phantom Regiment I plan to set an example for the new members to follow. I am a leader by nature and if I can set and example for at least one person to follow I have done my job. This summer will be my second to last summer marching, I age out in 2009. I know that this show is going to touch a lot of people and again I would love to win 30,000 hearts. I can't wait to learn more from this great staff. I have learned more marching here than I have in my music career in school. I know this summer is going to be one of a kind and I can't wait for it to start!

Personal Drum Corps History
I began my drum corps experience marching with Phantom Regiment in 2005 as the Head Conductor. After a summer off in 2006, I rejoined Regiment as an assistant Conductor in 2007 and am now beginning my age-out year as the Head Conductor for the 2008 Season.

Scholastic Achievements
I am currently a fourth-year student at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. I am majoring in Music Composition while also obtaining my certification to serve as a music educator. I hope to become a band director and to work in choral conducting with groups of all ages. I have been working as a choral composer and conductor and have had numerous works commissioned and performed by choral ensembles across the country. I also recently had my first piece for wind ensemble, "eos", performed by a University of Georgia Honor Band to critical acclaim. I have been commissioned by Emory University to compose and conduct new pieces for different ensembles beginning next fall, including a saxophone quartet, a piece for the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, a piece for the Atlanta Trumpet Ensemble, and two pieces for string quartet and various solo instruments. I have been a member of the dean's list and serve on the music advisory board to represent all music students to the music faculty.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
My goals with Phantom Regiment are to not only grow as a musician and leader personally, but to also do my best to work with others to continue to make Phantom Regiment what it is to our alumni, fans, and members, past and present. Regiment has such a rich history of performing at the highest level and my goal is make sure that the 2008 Phantom Regiment is no different. I want to help this corps leave a legacy that both represents the past success of this organization and continues to pave the way for great Regiment corps to come.

Amanda Krause

Color Guard

Personal Drum Corps History
I started marching drum corps in 2005, when I joined the Connecticut Hurricanes senior drum corps. I had absolutely no idea what DCI was when everyone from the Hurricanes took the weekend off to see DCI finals in Boston. I watched the ESPN 2 special and instantly fell in love with Phantom Regiment's performance so without a thought, I decided to audition. I made the guard in 2006 and fell in love. The tradition, drive to succeed, the close phamily, and not to mention a fantastic show, made me realize that I couldn't be anywhere other than Phantom Regiment. I took last summer off so I could work to raise money for college, but I'm back this year and am incredibly excited to perform Spartacus!

Scholastic Achievements
I'm a freshman at American University this year as a print journalism major. Ultimately my plans were minor in applied physics and criminal justice and go on to law school. Now, however, I may change my major to biology and go to veterinary school instead! I'm a typical freshman that can't decide what I want to do with my life but I'm working toward it.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
Since I'll be a veteran this year, my largest goal is to not only improve myself and my skills, but to serve as a role model for all of the rookies. I also want to just perform my heart out for every competition and make all of the fans and alumni proud of each and every performance.

Personal Drum Corps History
I marched with Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps in 2006. I had to take the 2007 summer off to help my father start a new business and now I'm back for 2008 with the finest drum corps in the world!

Scholastic Achievements
I am a junior at Florida State University majoring in music education. I have studied horn with Michelle Stebleton, James Wilson, and David Cripps. I am currently on dean's list and plan to stay there. I have played horn in every large ensemble at FSU including the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Chiefs, the University Philharmonia, the University Symphony Orchestra, and the Opera Orchestra. This semester I made it into the graduate level Wind Orchestra. I also hold a position with the College of Music as a recital hall technician and recording engineer. My ultimate goal is to teach a well rounded music program to high school level students and garner a sense of respect and love for all kinds of music everywhere.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
One of the biggest reasons for marching with the Phantom Regiment is simply my love performing great music. I also know there is much to learn here both from the staff and fellow members. What I learn here will be invaluable to my career as a music educator. I hope to grow as a musician, an individual, and a teacher over the course of my time with Phantom Regiment.

Personal Drum Corps History
This will be my 6th and final year marching drum corps. I was in the Empire Statesmen from Rochester, NY from 2003 until 2006, then moved on to the Colts from Dubuque,IA in 2007. I will be ageing out with the most solid drum corps in all of DCI; Phantom Regiment.

Scholastic Achievements
I am a Junior music education major at Mercyhurst College and have consistently maintained at least a 3.0 career GPA.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
My main goal, being a part of the Phantom Regiment is to increase my musicianship and knowledge of teaching. I have learned so much allready from other drum corps that I have been able to apply to my teaching of private students, marching band, and lab classes in college. I feel that the Phantom Regiment staff is an invaluable source of information that I can take with me, and pass on to my future students. I also plan to become the best person I can be by following the rigorous tour schedule and physical obstacales that I will encounter over the summer. There are lifelong lessons to be learned within the Phantom Regiment and I plan on figuring them out.

Personal Drum Corps History
I have no drum corps history as of yet, but I trust that if I'm able to meet the financial requirements for PR that my first year will definitely be one to remember.

Scholastic Achievements
I am a music education major at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. I have a good GPA, but it definitely did not come without a large loss of sleep. I march with the Marching Southerners at JSU. They are a very respectable organization, but I'm seeking the next level of marching music, and I think I can find that with Phantom Regiment.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
I hope to develop and maintain better time management skills. This would definitely help me in my rigorous college schedule. I also hope to be a part of something deep in tradition, and to carry on that tradition through my actions in and out of the corps setting. I also have the obvious goals of improving my musical abilities and my physical marching ability. My last goal is to meet new people with similar interests as I and to create memories and friendships that could potentially last a lifetime.

Personal Drum Corps History
The summer of 2007 was my first year of being involved in a drum corps. I marched at Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps and for some time during the summer I was the mellophone soloist.

Scholastic Achievements
I am currently a senior at Florida State University majoring in Instrumental Music Education. I play the French horn now in college after playing flute previously for about 8 years. My primary teachers on horn have been Michelle Stebleton and James Wilson. I set very high academic goals for myself and as a result have been on the Dean's List for the past 5 semesters with a 3.5 GPA. I have been involved in many of the various performing ensembles offered at FSU including chamber groups, horn choir, and Brass Machine (our very own Blast!-type group). In addition to these groups, I am currently serving as principle of our Concert Band as well as Section Leader of the mellophones of the Marching Chiefs which I have been a member of for the past 3 years. I also work part-time as recital hall technician and recording engineer. This semester I am also participating in an ambassador program sponsored through our CMENC chapter where I get to go out into the local schools and music programs and assist teachers and even teach a few of my very own lessons. This so far has been a very rewarding experience and has given me direction and new ideas about what I want to do when one day I have a music program of my own.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
My biggest factor in wanting to be a part of the Phantom Regiment has mainly to do with the type of music that is performed and what can be learned. I have always thought of Phantom as having one of the best, if not THE best, music programs every year. To be able to be a part of the tradition and discipline that goes along with that would be a dream come true. I believe there are so many things to be learned from all areas of staff that would be beneficial to me, especially as a music educator. It is also my goal that I can experience a hard work ethic and teamwork throughout the entirety of the summer. I also hope to become a better musician and person, and furthermore, to carry out all of these lessons in everyday life.

Personal Drum Corps History
I started marching with Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps and marched with them for the years of 2005 through 2007. Though this year I will be marching with the Phantom Regiment for the 2008 season and be performing in "Spartacus". Though during the winter months when I am not participating in drum corps, I march winter guard. I have been in winter guard since I was in seventh grade back in Colorado. Though since I have moved here to Illinois, I drive down to Chicago every weekend to be in Orion Independent World Winter Guard.

Scholastic Achievements
I currently attend Hononegah High School where I am a senior and will be graduating in spring 2008. I have been accepted to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater where I plan on double majoring in graphic communications and advertising, while aquiring a minor in dance.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
In becoming part of the Phantom Regiment, my goals would be to take everything that I would learn from the instructors at Phantom, and then turn around and give back to the Northern Illinois Region with what I am able to teach. In the end I hope to give back to my community and help girls and boys become possible future participants in this activity and hopefully be in a fine of corps such as Phantom Regiment.

Scholastic Achievements

Goals with Phantom Regiment
I hope to march with Phantom Regiment until my age out year. Someday I would like to be a leader for the Regiment Buick line, but this being my first year, I would like to cause the least amount of problems. My life has been significantly changed by watching and listening to past Phantom Regiment shows, so my main goal is, and will always be, to impact others the same way I have been.

Personal Drum Corps History
I began my drum corps career with Phantom Regiment's 2007 program, On Air. Spartacus will be my second year in the corps and I plan being here until I age out in 2009.

Scholastic Achievements
I am a sophomore at Michigan State University in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. I am currently an Animal Science major with a specialization in Agribusiness Management and Food Industry Management, but like any good college student, I'll probably be changing my major to Food Science within the next semester. I have a 3.4 GPA and I work in the Animal Behavior and Welfare Department conducting research pertaining to the well being of domesticated animals. Outside of the academic world I am going into my third year in the Spartan Marching Band, my second year as a squad leader.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
During the 2008 season I would like to continue the many traditions that make up this drum corps. I plan on continuing the legacy of performing such distinguished shows and capturing our audience in a way that only Phantom Regiment can. One of the many reasons I chose this drum corps is because of the powerful low brass section. I plan on working my hardest to continue delivering that sound to our fans. Phantom Regiment has taught me so many life lessons and I am more than ready to see what Spartacus has to offer me as a musician, a performer and a person.

I have been a firefighter for 6 years (including the junior firefighter program) and will be pursuing employment with the Nashville Metro FD after this summer. My ultimate goal is to work for the Houston FD.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
Some of my goals with Regiment are to continue to grow as a person and to challenge myself harder this year, especially with it being my last year in the corps. I also plan on pushing other members in my section as well as the whole corps because I believe that is what a true Phantom Regiment member should do. I also plan to perform with passion and heart to all the fans of DCI. It's not all about winning a championship, but to win the hearts and souls of the fans.

Personal Drum Corps History
This 2008 season with Phantom Regiment will mark the beginning of my experiences with Drum Corps.

Scholastic Achievements
Currently, I am in pursuit of a Bachelors Degree in Music Education at Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music in Columbus, Georgia. At the Schwob School of Music, my primary focus includes playing trumpet in the premiere recording and touring Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to my trumpet studies, I am currently apprenticing Dr. Robert W. Rumbelow in conducting studies. With the position as a three year drum major of the Kennesaw Mountain marching band during high school, I was awarded the Roger L. Dancz Young Conductors Award from the University of Georgia in my senior year.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
I know that being part of a prestigious drum corps like Phantom Regiment will help mold me into a more well rounded individual and musician. Because my university does not offer a marching band program, I can only hope to understand everything about marching band pedagogy in a classroom with little hands on experience. Because this will not suffice, I decided that getting into Phantom Regiment would give me the best education on marching music education. I hope to get the best hands on education by learning great pedagogical techniques from some of the best staff in the world. My goal is to take these lessons and experiences that I will learn from Phantom Regiment and share them with future students to inspire them to become the best they can be.

Personal Drum Corps History
This is my first time to march drum corps. I have been interested in this activity for several years. I wanted to audition in high school, but didn't think it was a realistic goal at the time. Now I finally have the chance to be involved with Phantom Regiment and I am very excited about the 2008 season.

Scholastic Achievements
High School Valedictorian. Music Scholarship Recipient at the University Of North Texas. Academic Scholarship Recipient at the University Of North Texas. Officer of the UNT Percussion Club.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
By marching at Phantom Regiment this summer I hope to gain several new characteristics and abilities. First, I am looking forward to becoming a better musician by being involved with an ensemble that consistently performs at a very high level. This activity will also be useful in my future career as a music educator. Spending a summer playing with one of the best marching ensembles in the world will allow me to become a better teacher. I also hope to grow personally. I am sure that I will face many non-musical challenges this summer. These experiences will help me mature and become the adult that I want to be.

I think I can do my part in this by my preparation before the summer and my willingness to push myself everyday of the summer. I want to learn as much from the staff as I can. As a future education I am taking this summer as a change to be in a learning environment all day everyday. Personal Drum Corps History
I began my drum corps experience in 2007 by marching with The Crossmen, as a member of the tenor line. I considered it a privilege to learn about drum corps while being a member of this great Division I corps. For 2008, I have the honor of being a member of the Front Ensemble of Phantom Regiment, playing the vibraphone. I hope to stay with Phantom Regiment until I age out.

Scholastic Achievements
I attended James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas. Throughout high school, I was involved in all areas of Fine Arts (marching band, concert band, choir and theater). I was a member of the marching band for all four years, marching tenor and snare. I participated in choir in my junior and senior years and I landed a lead role in a senior one act play. Also, I often volunteered to help with many different activities outside of my assigned responsibilities. For example, I played drum set for many choir competitions and for the jazz band when their only drum set player was ineligible and I played in the pit orchestra for the annual musical for three years. I was the band librarian, a uniform room assistant, a section leader in marching band, principal percussionist in the top concert band, and drumline captain. I was awarded numerous awards, including outstanding musicianship, leadership and service and I was in the top of my graduating class of almost 700 students. I attended the Baylor University Music Camp for two years and earned the Outstanding Camper Award both years. In the summer between 9th and 10th grades, I attended the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, playing percussion in almost every ensemble and was awarded the Outstanding Professionalism and Leadership Award. Most important, during these years I was fortunate to have the respect of my teachers, as well as my peers. Additionally, I have been active in my church youth group, volunteering for several mission trips. I am currently a freshman at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas where I am pursuing a degree in Music Education. I am a member of the percussion studio, under the direction of Dr. Brian West, and am fortunate to be a recipient of a scholarship from the School of Music. I love what I am doing at TCU. I have already learned so much more than I had anticipated and I know that I will grow in maturity and knowledge with each year of study. This semester I am in Percussion Ensemble, Steel Drum Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra and various ensembles that need the services of a percussionist from time to time (including choirs and dance companies). Even though I may struggle sometimes, I am always willing to listen and to learn and I want to continue to demonstrate those qualities through all of my activities.

Goals with Phantom Regiment
There are three words that come to mind when I think of goals and Phantom Regiment: dream, opportunity, and legacy. Dream: Since attending my first DCI event, it has been a dream of mine to be a member of Phantom Regiment. There are moments when it is still difficult to believe that the dream is now a reality! Knowing that I have succeeded in one of my dreams makes me even more determined to strive for excellence not only with my musical goals but also with other personal goals. Opportunity: To be in an ensemble of this caliber is not only a blessing, but an opportunity to show others that it can happen!! I am a member of Phantom Regiment! I am grateful, I am proud, and I am so very, very excited. We are told to always remember that people are watching and I am very conscious of that statement. In every rehearsal, every performance, every moment that we wear the uniform, each member of Phantom Regiment has an amazing opportunity to project these feelings of gratitude, pride and excitement to every member of the audience! And, as an Ambassador, I would also have the opportunity to share these feelings and accomplishments in a one-on-one basis with someone over the course of the 2008 tour. Legacy: Like many others before me, one of my goals is to leave a legacy something of me - behind at Phantom Regiment. But more importantly, I want to take part of the Phantom Regiment legacy with me. As a Music Education major, I want to hold my future students to the same high standards that I place upon myself. Since I will spend this summer and, hopefully, many more summers to come, performing as a member of a highly competitive and successful drum corps, one of my goals is to learn how to teach my future students to strive to be the best. There is nothing worse than settling for mediocrity. I dont settle for it; Phantom Regiment doesnt settle for it; and my goal is to learn how to teach others not to settle for it!
